What is Burkitt's Lymphoma?

Burkitt's lymphoma (BL) is a malignant B-cell neoplasm, first described in 1958 by Denis Burkitt, a surgeon working in Africa. Characterised by small non-cleaved cells that are uniform in appearance and that produce a diffuse pattern of tissue involvement, BL is one of the fastest growing malignancies in humans. It is more common in males and tends to occur in paediatric patients beyond the peak age range for common childhood leukaemia
